What is the History?
The rights to Blues, Brews & BBQ's are held by NZ BBQ Festivals Ltd that is owned equally by Christchurch, Blenheim and Tauranga Round Table clubs. The company structure provides the mechanism to achieve a high level of co-ordination between the three festivals and to act as a conduit for sponsorship arrangements. Each festival is in turn operated under a license arrangement.
Who Operates Each Festival?
The Blenheim and Mt Maunganui festivals are operated by the respective local Round Table Clubs. Round Table is comprised of a group of responsible young men with a strong sense of community spirit. The organisation offers opportunity for personal development, growing friendships, community involvement and promoting international understanding and goodwill. As a volunteer organisation we are always looking for new members.
The Hastings festival is operated by the Rotary Club of Stortford Lodge. Rotary is similarly a community service organisation promoting similar values.
In all cases, funds raised are ultimately available for charitable or community purposes.
How are the Festivals Organised?
The festivals are professionally planned and operate to a clearly defined and proven methodology. Members of the service organisations concerned contribute many hundreds of hours of voluntary effort to deliver each festival. Structured feedback by way of market research forms an important element to understand what festival patrons value and to provide the organisers with quantitative performance measures. The aim is always to deliver a high quality yet afordable festival in a safe and relaxed social environment while raising funds for the local community.
What Opportunities Exist for Sponsors?
The festivals offer considerable opportunity for businesses to target their brand, goods and services to a large and receptive audience. Collectivelly, the festivals attract around 23,000 adult patrons each year and this figure continues to grow. Arrangements can be established for exclusive distribution rights for some product categories through to various sponsorship arrangements including naming rights.
