Blenheim Entertainment
The festival will once again boast a top class line-up. The entertainers for the 2010 festival are;
Darcy Perry Band (Auckland)
One of New Zealand’s best blues bands. Darcy is renowned for his live shows, performing with passion and intensity. He has worked alongside blues icons Bullfrog Rata, Midge Marsden and Shayne Wills, and for the 2010 festival will be joined by Craig Bracken on Harmonica, Darren MacDonald on Keys, Adam Sharplin on Bass and Emanuel Cameron on Drums
Giddy Robins Trio Electric Blues (Outback Methven)
This young and enthusiastic band is touring in December with Richie Owen, performing as opening act. Robbie on lead guitar is a local lad from Blenheim; he performed at Blues Brews & BBQs on home turf while still at Marlborough Boys College. We look forward to seeing him again, along with Tom Taylor on Bass and Chris Greaves on Drums.
The Rollicks (Hawkes Bay)
The Rollicks is a duo originally from the Netherlands. There are only just a few talented female rhythm and lead guitar players in the world but Laura is one that has it down to a fine art. While playing her guitar she sings from the heart with a dynamic soulful voice. Rick accompanies with acoustic and electric guitar and vocals and plays fantastic blues harmonica. Their speciality is ‘The Stones’.Having previously played at our festival, their fans are eagerly awaiting their return.
Chilli Dogs (Blenheim)
Simon Byrne is this local band's only original member. Originally the group played largely acoustic tracks, but over time their sound has evolved to incorporate a mixture of old and new grooves. Six years ago Nigel MacDonald, a charismatic vocalist and bass guitar player, joined Simon, while drummer Adrian Nicholls joined the group only recently. Their focus is on rhythm, with heavy emphasis on harmonies and even a bit of "electronic trickery" thrown in for good measure.
Lloyd Speigel (Australia)
With 18 years, 6 albums and a swag of accolades to his name, Lloyd Spiegel is the most experienced young Blues artist in Australia. He has established himself as one of Australia's leading Blues artists and most respected guitarists. Combining his youthful enthusiasm with experience and presence well beyond his years, his incredible command of the guitar, powerful voice and high energy performance captivates any audience. Lloyd has travelled the world touring Germany, Italy and the USA. During these tours he's performed at some of the world's best Blues venues and largest festivals. He's played bills with legendary Blues artists including Buddy Guy, Etta James and Ray Charles, as well as artists from a range of musical genres - Bob Dylan, Peter Frampton and Willie Nelson. We feel privileged Lloyd has accepted our offer to perform at our 2010 festival.
Nick Charles;(Australia)
Nick has been a performing and touring acoustic musician for over 25 years on the Australian and international acoustic music scene. Averaging over 200 shows a year, the electric nature of Nick’s music continues to delight and captivate his audiences. With 5 critically acclaimed albums to his credit and numerous awards he is in high demand. Melbourne’s prestigious newspaper ‘The Age” has declared him ‘Australia’s virtuoso of acoustic roots guitar’. We feel sure you will agree.
